On April the 2nd 1974, Piccadilly Radio launched from its studios in Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester UK. It became the most popular and successful mixed news and entertainment radio station in the country. It was listened to and loved by millions of people across the North West, listening on 261 metres Medium Wave and 97 MHz FM. On Thursday November 13th 2025, a plaque was unveiled at City Tower, Manchester to commemorate the loction where Piccadilly Radio's first iconic studios were based.
LEFT: Tony Ingham and Brian Beech, authors of the "For The Record" book that chronicles the history of the radio station, and were behind the campaign to have a commemorative plaque to mark the location of the original studios.
